Not sure why I chose to write this article, but one must tell the full story. Novelty number plates or novelty license plates have been sold for many years now and many people have built up collections for a whole lot of reasons. In order to supply this demand manufacturers and suppliers are “guessing” what titles or plates will become popular in the years to come. There does not seem to be a lot of reason in some of the choices, however, this is how the business works. Retailers then purchase a few of the new designs and see how they go. The majority of plates do sell - not sure why, but there are a few that do not really do that well. In this case we are looking at a market that includes Australian, USA and UK (English speaking) customers mainly, although a few sales have gone to Europeans.

It will be interesting, if the list remains the same, or when people find out about these less popular or rare novelty number plates that they will indeed find homes with some collectors. Novelty number plates or novelty license plates can be purchased form many stores and online retailers. Prices will vary, and often the more expensive plates may be made from slightly thicker stock and the paint process may be superior. In cases where the manufacturer of the plates also manufactures government issue registration plate, the quality is mostly good.
