Warranty FAQs
By Seth Miller
The purchase of a warranty for new or a used car is often very expensive. There are a few queries that should be made before buying a warranty. Some commonly asked questions are listed below.
One often asked question is whether or not a new car buyer should purchase an extended warranty. That is not an easy question to answer but it is safe to say that purchasing an extended warranty on a new car is not very practical. The extended warranty is merely a way for the company selling it to make money. They figure what the average repair costs are on a new car and add a percentage to cover their operating expenses and more for profit. Say the average repair costs on your vehicle less deductibles is $800 over five years. The company charges you $1000 for a warranty, and you lose because you d be better off saving that money in a bank and paying for the repairs with the interest you will have accumulated.
One fact that remains true is that an extended warranty does provide peace of mind. If for some reason there is a major repair necessary, then you re probably covered and you aren t risking paying high repair bills if your automobile needs above and beyond repairs. Another fact that remains true is if you do purchase an extended warranty or your car is still under a normal warranty ? make sure that you take full advantage of it. If you think there is anything wrong with your car, take it to be serviced immediately. It s not going to cost you anything, and you are taking full advantage of what is rightfully due to you.
